Beyond the Exam Room: Community Healing with Justice Roe Williams
Oct 20, 2026What does healing look like outside of the healthcare system? And what can healthcare providers learn from people doing this work in their communities?
In the newest episode of the QueerCME podcast, I'm joined by Justice Roe Williams to talk about his work bringing people together through community healing circles, creating spaces for connection, care, and collective healing. His next circle is virtual on November 7, 2026. You can register here: https://forms.gle/EE5DDEKtnzd1CeRx9
Justice has been doing social justice work for over 30 years. He's also helped train my clinical team at QueerDoc, as well as providers at Fenway Health. His work offers an important perspective for healthcare providers: healing doesn't happen exclusively in clinical settings, and we have a lot to learn from the people creating opportunities for healing within their communities.
In addition to his community-based work, Justice offers movement and fitness training through Fitness 4 All Bodies. He also helped edit Deconstructing the Fitness-Industrial Complex: How to Resist, Disrupt, and Reclaim What It Means to Be Fit in American Culture, a collection of perspectives from QTBIPOC, fat, and disabled trainers, bodyworkers, and coaches challenging conventional ideas about fitness and reimagining movement for all bodies.
